Dr. Roberts,I was wondering if you could help out a Minnesota atriimly veteran. In high school, 10 years ago, I broke both my tibia and fibula. I subsequently was operated on by an orthopedic surgeon who em placed a titanium rod, without screws, in my tibia. 10 years later, the rod is still in place, and I am having some pain near the break site almost like a shin splint pain and then I am having pain in my knee near just to the outside of the incision site. I am wondering if this has to deal with either the rod still being in my leg or scar tissue? Any guidance or opinion would be greatly appreciated. thank you.-Michael

Michael, this sounds like something that probably needs to be seen by a professional. Wish you the best. DrC

I am expecting to have a total knee renelcamept within the next few years. I have damage in all 3 compartments of my knee partly due to a previous surgery (1977, moved patellar tendon medially to prevent patellar dislocation). I feel that i need to find a surgeon/hospital that has worked on similar cases (therefore high volume). Can you suggest how I can find some in the Pacific Northwest? Thank you Diane Cornelius.
